Cute Overload might be the most popular site that exists because people send in their own photographs so that they can appear on the site. How many people have had a look at the “terms and conditions”, though?

When you send in an image you agree to this: “In consideration for your Works appearing on the Website, you grant the Company a perpetual royalty free non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, translate, transmit, distribute and sub-license any Works you supply or communicate to the Website in any medium, now in existence or hereafter developed, for any purposes, including commercial use.” (my emphasis) In a nutshell, they can make money off of your photography (and they will!).

Needless to say, this behaviour appears to be quite common, as a quick Google search confirmed. Here is a post about the practices on Facebook. Photographers might want to have a good look at number four!
