Thomas Rousset

Contemporary European Photography

I don’t link to photography like Thomas Rousset’s as often as I should. This image is from Behind The Smiles, which the photographer describes as “A frozen era where only mountain dwellers and itinerants have survived, where children’s tales and rural fantasies can meet and become real” and “where tribalism and autarky have taken over, where theatricality and the burlesque define situations.” It’s a bit like Tom Waits producing a version of Mad Max.
